in the expanded flower. T. cordifoUa seems n very variable plant, and some forms
of.it approach very near to T'. BaUs> Micrs (Coccnlus Bakis, FL Senegamb. t. 4),
which has, however, a different habit, and often terminal flowers. According to
Ainslie and "Wight, this species is equally efficacious with T, crispa as a tonic, and is
known by the same name, Giduttcha.
5. ANAMXHTA, Colebrooke.
Sepala 6, ovali-oblonga, obtusa, carnosula, brscteis 2 adpressis sti-
pata. Peiala 0, MAS. Ulameuta in columnam crassam centralem
coalite fanthera sessiles, bilocularcs, transverse dehiscentes. FCEM. Sta-
mina sterilia 9, clnvata, uniserialia. Qvaria 3, gynophoro brevi carnoso
hemispheerico insidentia. Stigma clcpressurn, reflexion, fere capitatum,
Drupa gynophoro npice trifklo stipatse, oblique ovules, carnosae, dorso
gibbosae, antice styli cicatiice a hilo non fonge distante notatae. Puta-
mert lignosum, processum alte bilobum Iseve intus cavum in seminis
cavitatem intrusum continens. Semen globosum, intus cavum, funi-
culo inter lobos processus intend inserto, Testa tennis, membranacea,
Albumen fere comeum, oleosum, massulis crebris albidis farinaceis plus
minus rotuudatig inter se discrctis quasi runiinatum. Embryo curvatus;
radicula superior, styli cicatricem spectans; cotyledones anguste ob-
longae, tenuissimse, divunoata3, in locuiis diversis allmminis inclusse.
Frutices scandentess QQtidicylindrid'dasicrassiowsarticulati; paniculse
maxima e rands vetustioribus pendulasmultjflora.
The wood of Anamirta appears to agree in all essential particulars with that of
Cosdnium, bat the liber does not present any traces of annual growth by obscure
concentric rings*

deeidaa, Gynoptora ^-polliqaris, lignoeau Xhvp* glabras, {-polacares, nigricantes,
sapore (ex Koxburg^i) pesfttmo.
Mr. Mien mentions four species, but only names the one described abore and 'C.
poputifbiiu*, which we believe to be a synonym. We see nothing In the gpecimena
to which we have access, nor in the descriptions of aoiiort, which implies there
